Teaser trailer for the uber indie film Fear Eats the Seoul. From the production blog:
Nadia has been in Korea for almost two years, and one week before her contract ends and she gets to fly home, the demon epidemic takes root. She and three other English teachers have used her now almost vacant apartment as a Safe House scavenging for food in the nearby apartments.
The film begins about a month after the infection and theyre still alive. But Nadia is the only one convinced that both the American Government as well as the Korean Government are not going to help them. Three to one, she is stuck. But after they meet a surviving Korean woman, Minji, they learn the dire truth about what will occur in Korea in a few days time.
Really like the look of it from the teaser. Low budget arty horror. There is a ton of info on the official blog including make-up tests and other production facts. Links below.
Hobo with a Shotgun is based from the fake movie trailer created to promote Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse double feature. With this, Machete and Eli Roth’s upcoming Thanksgiving, exploitation cinema is re-exploding! I’m pleased to see the great Rutger Hauer getting some work. Now enjoy the trailer for the real thing.
Based from a crime novel from Finnish writer Matti Joensuu, who also happens to be a 35 year vetran Helsinki police inspector, Priest of Evil looks pretty damn grim. The amazon synopsis:
While investigating a young man’s apparent suicide in a Helsinki subway station, Detective Sergeant Timo Harjunpää of the Helsinki Violent Crimes Unit is baffled by the apparent lack of witnesses or evidence. Even the closed-circuit security tapes offer no clues. As a pattern of death emerges, it becomes apparent that there is a serial killer at work—a deluded and dangerous fanatic who inhabits an underground bunker under a desolate Helsinki hillside. No stranger to the seamier side of human nature, Detective Sergeant Harjunpää must now apprehend the most terrifying adversary of his career.
Full trailer below. It is dark, driving and effective, though it lifts heavily from the Inception trailers for its strong audio cues. No subtitles, but that just adds to the atmosphere. Flying Saucers, Mysticism, Autopsies, Archaeologists, UFO hunters, Prophecy, Infection, & Grey Aliens? Sounds like a job for tailor-made for El Zorro & Señora Scully to me! Part one of a three stage tale.
Zombies, Paul Giamatti, Axes, Clancy “Put your hand on that wall!” Brown, David Fincher & Tommy Guns all wrapped up in an animated feature film based off the comic? Yes please!
The French Scarface? I don’t know about all that, but this true story of the 1960s outlaw who came to be known as France’s Public Enemy No. 1 looks gritty, fun and full of action. Originally released in Europe in 2008, it’s heading to region 1 blu-ray… sometime? Hey! Gérard Depardieu!
This comic-con trailer is both great and troubling. They have many months still in post-production. So with CG Bridges Head aside, I’ll wager on F*K YEAH!
